How to make the Natural old-fashioned Ginger Ale
February 1, 2021
Natural old-fashioned Ginger Ale
A naturally fermented old-fashioned ginger ale contains beneficial probiotics and enzymes.
Ingredients:
• A 1-2 inch piece of fresh ginger root, minced. Adjust this to taste.
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 1 tablespoon molasses for flavor and minerals.
• 1/2 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
• 1/2 tsp sea salt
• 8 cups of filtered (chlorine free) water
1/2 cup fermented ginger (Ginger culture))
1. Place 3 cups of the water, minced ginger root, sugar, molasses, and salt in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
2. Simmer the mixture for about five minutes.
3. Remove from heat and add additional water, allow to cool to room temperature.
4. Add fresh lemon or lime juice and ginger culture (see instruction below).
5. Transfer to a 2quart air-tight lid jar.
6. Leave on the counter for 2-3 days until carbonated and transfer to the fridge.
7. Ready to drink….
Ginger culture
Ingredients:
• 1-2 fresh ginger roots
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 cups of water
• Quart size air-tight lid jar
1. Chop the organic ginger root about 1.5 inches long to make 2-3 tablespoons of grated ginger.
2. Place the ginger in a quart size jar and add an equal amount of white sugar (2-3 tablespoons) and add 2 cups of filtered water to the jar.
3. Stir with a non-metal spoon and lightly cover with a coffee filter and rubber band.
4. Each day for the next five days, stir the mixture at least once and add 1 tablespoon of grated ginger root and 1 tablespoon of sugar.
The culture is active if there are bubbles forming around the top of the mixture. If the mixture hasn’t taken on these characteristics by the 7-8th day, you need to discard it and start again.
Once the ginger culture is ready, it can be used to create fermented sodas and drinks.
Notes
To keep the bug alive and continue growing it, you will need to feed it regularly. Add 1 teaspoon of minced ginger and 1 teaspoon sugar per day if kept at room temperature. You can also “rest” it in the fridge and feed it 1 tablespoon each of ginger and sugar once a week. To reactivate it, remove and let it reach room temperature and begin feeding it again.

* Digestion and Enzymes
January 11, 2008
![]() |
Almost everyone know that Enzymes are critical to our digestion process and to good health. All raw foods contain enzymes. But when foods are cooked at high temperatures, enzymes are destroyed. I would like to encourage people try to eat something raw every day, at every meal time, if possible, one or two servings of salad and at least two raw servings of fruit every day.Often though, people need to take enzymes. Our enzyme ‘bank account’ becomes depleted as we age and the metabolism slows. Yet another reason why people gain weight as they age.Digestive problems are the first indication that the enzymes in our bodies are being depleted.
How many older people do you know who have digestive concerns. A good number of them, right? How many younger people do you know who complain about digestion. Hardly any, but still some. |
|
There are four main types of digestive enzymes;
There is also lactase for those who are lactose intolerant. So if you are having digestive concerns, consider enzymes to improve your health. Enzymes are just one step to improving your health. Enzymes can also help in weight loss goals. Check the Amazon Herb Co. products, which can help you to be more healthy through the life.

* …my life with herbs
June 6, 2007
I was always interested in herbs and nutrition. Just couple month ago I graduated from College of Natural Medicine with Nutritional Consultant Diploma. I don’t know if I will continue in this field or not, but for now I ‘m glad I have that knowledge from the course and can use it. I was introduced to Amazon Herb Co more than two ears ago and was happy to find high-quality botanical nutrition I could use in my daily life which is keeping my energy running with family and all my activities: work, sport and hobbies. |
Today I want to share my experience about some of the Amazon Herb Co products.
We all know that with aging, our body is not producing enough enzymes which we need for proper digestion; and as a result people have some health problems and don’t know where they come from. The Digestazon Plus is a good source of natural enzymes. I’m using it with my food, especially if I need to attend some special events with a lot of ‘yummy’ stuff.
I start my morning with couple Aquazons – the concentrated source of sea minerals and proteins. Later in a morning I have my cup of Matte or Treasure tea.
My favorite chocolate – Chocamaca keeps me focuses and full of energy in the afternoon.
The Warrior helps me during yoga and kickboxing exercises (increasing focus and stamina) and Recovazon helps to feel good after (fewer muscle aches, pains and injuries).
Reinforest Nutritions are the essential key to being in good health and top shape for me.
Try it yourself and tell me I’m wrong.

* Collagen and Skin Wrinkles
May 29, 2007
![]() |
![]() Skin forms the largest organ of the body, accounting for about 16 per cent of a person’s weight. It performs many vital roles as both a barrier and a regulating influence between the outside world and the controlled environment within our bodies. |
Most people interested in maintaining youthful skin and reducing wrinkles have heard about collagen. It’s something “they put in expensive creams or inject into wrinkles.” Well, there is much more to collagen than that. Collagen is a protein (a biological polymer consisting of amino acids) that serves as a key structural component of connective tissue such as skin, bones, ligaments, etc. Dermis, the inner layer of the
skin, contains large amounts of collagen whose fibers form a supporting mesh responsible for skin’s mechanical characteristics such as strength, texture and resilience. As any material, collagen it slowly breaks down over time. Skin cells called fibroblasts are capable of producing collagen. When needed, fibroblasts replace broken collagen fibers with new ones. Unfortunately, as we age the skin’s ability to replace damaged collagen diminishes and more gaps and irregularities develop in the collagen mesh. This process eventually leads to wrinkles. Thus, one important target of wrinkle prevention and elimination regimen is to reduce collagen breakdown and increase its supply. Many factors contributing to accelerated collagen
breakdown can be fully or partially neutralized. They include sun damage, free radicals, some age-related hormonal changes, and smoking.
To reduce rather than just cover wrinkles, new collagen must become a part of the skin’s inner layer, the dermis. Unfortunately, C ollagen molecules are
too large to penetrate into the dermis when applied to the surface of
the skin. Thus, when simply applied onto the skin, collagen remains locked outside without affecting the skin structure, at best just temporarily covering wrinkles.
Stimulating your skin to produce more collagen
Aging of the skin shifts the balance between
collagen production and breakdown leading to wrinkles, facial
sag and rough skin texture. Stimulating skin cells to produce
collagen can partly reverse this process. The benefit of
stimulating your own collagen production is that
collagen is deposited in an orderly, structured manner and that there is no risk of allergy, immune reaction or injection-induced infection.
Vitamin C :
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is essential for efficient synthesis of
collagen. Many of the symptoms of scurvy (vitamin C deficiency
disease) such as bleeding gums, skin hemorrhages and poor wound healing
a due to impaired collagen synthesis. On the other hand,
supplying extra vitamin C can accelerate collagen synthesis
especially when other key ingredients are also in abundance.
Vitamin C is useful for rebuilding your skin’s collagen and
reducing wrinkles. Potentially, vitamin C can benefit skin in
two important ways. Firstly, vitamin C is essential for the synthesis of
collagen , a key structural protein of the skin. Adding vitamin
C to a culture of skin cells (fibroblasts
) dramatically increases the synthesis of collagen.
Secondly, vitamin C is an antioxidant and can help reduce skin damage caused by free radicals.
So, when vitamin C is properly delivered to skin cells, there is a good chance to reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.
Amino acids : Like any other proteins, collagen consists of amino acids (a type of small organic molecules). Altogether there are 20 different kinds of amino acids in human cells.
However, collagen is unusually rich in a few particular amino acids. Supplying these key amino acids in abundancehelps stimulate molecules diminishes with age. The good news is that these activators of collagen synthesis can be
supplied by topical application.

Acupuncture stimulation: Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese healing
practice involving the insertion of minute stainless steel needles into
various body areas. The practice holds that the body’s vital energy
(known as Chi, pronounced “chee”) circulates through channels,
“meridians” that have branches connected to bodily organs and functions.
A person’s health is influenced by the flow of Qi in the body, in
combination with the universal forces of Yin and Yang. When meridians
become obstructed, deficient, excessive, or simply unbalanced, Yin and
Yang are thrown out of balance, causing pain or illness. Acupuncture
restores this balance.
Cosmetic acupuncture- is new in America, but
it’s been around for thousands of years. Earliest times are since the
Sung Dynasty, where the empress and the emperor’s concubines were using
facial rejuvenation acupuncture to beautify themselves. The process
works by stimulating nodes and pathway vessels. Blood flow is
increased, stress is reduced, muscles are stimulated and the body
produces more collagen.
